Dental

Nearly 75% of American adults suffer from various forms of periodontal (gum) disease and don’t know it.¹

Gum disease has been linked to oral cancer, heart disease, diabetes, respiratory ailments, preterm birth, skin diseases, thyroid problems and leukemia.^{1, 2}

The death rate for oral cancer is higher than that of cervical cancer, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, thyroid cancer and skin cancer.³

Tooth decay is the single most chronic childhood disease - five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever.⁴

Over 20 million workdays are lost each year due to dental illness.⁵

Vision

Approximately 75% of American adults use some form of vision correction.⁶

A comprehensive eye exam can detect health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, and even brain tumors.⁶

Direct medical costs associated with vision disorders exceed similar medical expenditures for breast cancer, lung cancer and HIV.⁷

Nearly 10 million kids have undetected vision problems.⁸

Recent research shows that employee vision impairment can decrease productivity by as much as 20%. ⁹

Vision disorders alone cost businesses an estimated $8 billion each year.¹⁰
